This was a lovely, intimate and private campground in Meyer Flats right off of 101 and oh so close to the Avenue of the Giants and the magnificent Humboldt Redwoods State Park. The campground had access to the river running through it. Be prepared for a little hike to get down to the river.
There were a variety of sites for tent and RV/trailers with no hookups to full hookups. We stayed in site 51 at the back of the campground with electric and water. We arrived pretty late due to unexpected Bay Area traffic, but our registration materials were waiting for us on the door of the office. The sites next to us remained empty the 4 days we were there. Lucky for us. The bathrooms were new and had a pass code on the doors for safety.
There was a small playground and the kids enjoyed riding their bikes around the loops. There was also a small dog run. My only complaint was all the burrs in our campsite which made walking uncomfortable for our dog.
The campground was well maintained as evident by the large crews out every day working to clean and plant and the owners were easily accessible and pleasant.
We enjoyed a few campfires roasting hot dogs, corn and s’mores, of course.
